Stage 2:

AINT203 Introduction to Artificial Intelligence
An overview of artificial intelligence, using the development of autonomous intelligent agents as a unifying theme. Includes problem-solving, reasoning planning and adaptive behavior.

We gained practical experience in neural networks, evolutionary computing, rule based systems and artificial life.

ISAD211 Databases
An introduction to the concepts and issues concerning multiuser, networked relational databases in a practical environment.
From this module I gained a strong understanding of SQL and am now able to apply it well.

ISAD213 Information Retrieval
This module considers the organisation, storage and retrieval of unstructured information based on its content. World Wide Web search engines will be used extensively both as a source of material and for demonstration purposes. Additionally, current issues in the information industry are addressed.

PRCI201 Integrating Project
Allowed integration of many of the disciplines studied as part of a major group analysis, design and implementation project.
This module took a lot of hard work more it in the PlaceME page

LAW233 Computers and the Law
Introduction to the concepts of the law, how it functions in society and about legal issues relevant to the computer industry and business in general. Students’ skills are developed in respect of an understanding and application of legal rules, including the ability to research and analyse legal information.

ISAD220 Application Development Environments
To exploit the internet to maximum commercial advantage requires a particular combination of management and technical skills to ensure the risks are known about and minimised. This module focused on the development and application of those skills. This module will go on to give an appreciation of the significance of a variety of ‘views’ of business systems. Object Oriented Analysis and Design, Component Technology, Soft Systems theory and Rapid Applications Development (RAD).
This all year module contained to major courseworks, the first being to create an ASP e-commerce store more on this can be found on CNA Web Store page, and the second to present research in form of a lecture on a current web technology development.

ISAD223 Human-Computer Interaction
This module enables students to appreciate their role as designers of environments which will be inhabited by humans.

SOFT222 Object Oriented Software Engineering
An introduction to object-oriented programming, using a commonly-used language Java as the vehicle for implementation.

CNET222 Networks
This module provides an overview of Local and Wide Area Network technologies and protocols, and relates them to the TCP/IP and OSI model.

BUS2005 Introduction to Operations Management
Operations - the activity of producing, delivering and supporting goods and services lies at the heart of businesses. This module aims to offer an introduction to how this can be done in practice, describing the challenges faced in a range of industries in achieving competitive advantage and some of the decisions, techniques and technologies which are used to meet them.

Stage 1

ISAD134 Professional Issues for Computing Learners
This module is intended to provide learners in the computing discipline an opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills relating to personal development planning and develop employability skills as required by a computing professional.
CNET111 Computer Systems
This module is intended to provide a basic understanding of the operation of the hardware components of computer systems and networks, enabling students to evaluate hardware and perform dimensioning estimations. The role of the operating system is also covered, relating it to the facilities needed by users, administrators and programmers.
ISAD130 Information Systems Requirements Analysis
This module is intended to provide the fundamental concepts and skills essential for Information Systems requirements modelling and analysis. It will enable students to acquire, develop and apply specific object-oriented modelling techniques and specific transferable skills required by the computing professional.
ISAD131 Database Development
An introduction to the analysis, design and development of information systems including the principles of data flow modelling, data organisation and analysis, the use of Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools and database prototyping.
SOFT130 Software Engineering
This module provides an introduction to software engineering within a visual, event-driven, development environment in Delphi. It includes coverage of program design, fundamental programming techniques and the development of more advanced programming skills. It also provides an introduction to object-oriented programming.
STAT130 Statistical Methods
This module provides a foundation in the quantitative skills required elsewhere in the programme and is built around the problems of analysing data in a computing environment.

Many of the module descriptions are based on those from the University web site
